Plex & Media Automation

The media subsystem: discovery, requests, automated acquisition, library management and playback, all wired together into a single pipeline.

PlexPlexampRadarrSonarrLidarrSeerr

Workflow

Seerr request → Radarr / Sonarr / Lidarr management → download / import → Plex library → Plex or Plexamp playback

The exact downloader, indexer and storage mappings are still being formally documented, but the pipeline itself is running end to end.

Components

Plex

The central media server. Libraries, storage paths, hardware transcoding, remote access, users and backups are the areas still being fully documented.

Plexamp

Music-focused playback backed by Plex — connects naturally to the Lidarr / slskd music workflow.

Radarr

Movie automation — root folders, quality profiles, downloader integration and Plex refresh behaviour.

Sonarr

Television automation — series profiles, root folders, naming rules and downloader integration.

Lidarr

Music automation — artist profiles, storage, and integration with Plexamp and slskd.

Seerr

The request and discovery front-end — authentication, user management, approval rules, and the Radarr/Sonarr connections that turn a request into a download.

Operational risks

  • Mount and permissions mismatches between containers and storage.
  • Accidental deletion during import or library cleanup.
  • Service ports bypassing Authentik or the reverse proxy if misconfigured.
  • Missing configuration backups for any single service in the pipeline.
